Their basic premise is to establish a sort of "deep strike synapse" with their CCS and PCS squads with homing beacons to allow you to surgically place keys units to eliminate targets. every one of their units can deep strike but their CCS cannot take an astropath, otherwise they'd be broken. If you like you can take Stormtroopers which can deepstrike sans transports, but Stormtroopers are generally thought to be overcosted in the current codex (vs Veterans). Your infantry can "drop" from your Valkyries and Vendettas with their "grav-chute insertion" special rule. Remember that you can take a second Company Command Squad as HQ #2. Your vehicles have enough heavy weapons, and they get to move and shoot. Usually people go with 3 meltas and no heavy weapons in their Veteran squads, plasma in Command squads. A build I've seen has Valkyries with Multiple Rocket Pods for the Command squads, and Vendettas (triple TL-Lascannons) for the Veteran squads. However you could approximate it with a standard "Leafblower" IG army using the IG Codex: take a Company Command squad for HQ, Veterans as Troops, and one Valkyrie or Vendetta (in Fast Attack) for each squad. The Elysian Drop Troop army list is in Imperial Armour Vol. Is it a case of using the IG codex? Is there provisions for a drop-troop army within the codex? What advantages/drawbacks are Elysians given in the codex? I've heard some stuff online about an issue of Imperial Armour that contains rules for playing them, however surely this can't be tourney legal? Or am I wrong? However I have one question which I cannot seem to find the answer for - how, rules-wise and codex-wise, do I field an army of Elysians? I also think that with the right army list they could be relatively (relatively now) competitive. So after a couple of weeks of reading 40k fluff on the internet, deciding what kind of an army i was looking for and thinking of some cool conversion/pain scheme ideas I've decided to try and field an army of Elysian Drop Troops (definitely the Emperor at work).įluff-wise I think the idea of an elite group of soldiers dropping in behind enemy lines is great - the fact that they're just normal soldiers taking on the horrors of the 41st millenium sits well with me. Recently however I just got a strange urge (the Emperor using his psychic powers no doubt) to begin playing again. I haven't touched any Warhammer for nearly a decade. Eventually however I just lost interest I and shelved my armies. At my peak I had about 1.5k points of Necrons and 1k of Tau. I used to be really into 40k I loved painting, playing and especially converting. First off, this is my first post - excuse any unintended faux pas.
